The Parksville Curling Club is getting ready to host the Canadian Direct Insurance BC Men’s Curling Championship for the second year in a row.
The 2013 championship, from February 5 to 10, will follow the same format as the successful 2012 format. The beach-side curling club is a great setting for a championship and the Parksville event committee is looking forward to welcoming people back in 2013.
Event chair Penny Shantz said: “Last year’s event was a big success and this year will be even better. “We can’t wait to welcome all the curlers, spectators and volunteers back to the Island.”
Senior Manager of Affinity Business at Canadian Direct Insurance, Chris Pragnell, said: “Canadian Direct Insurance is proud to support curling in BC and we’re looking forward to another great event in Parksville.”
The Parksville Curling Club was first formed in 1991, but did not find a building to call home until 2003, when it signed a lease with the Regional District to take over an old hockey arena. This facility hosted the 2007 BC Master Men’s & Women’s Curling Championships and the 2009 Scotties Tournament of Hearts BC Women’s Curling Championship.
